I think the main thing is that it’s the lowest friction for just sending a message, making a “post” gives people pause, but sending a message people will do no problem, so small communities get more activity in Discord than anywhere else

I’ve got 2 gaming Discords I want to bridge with Matrix (and maybe Revolt too?) can you suggest an instance? one is for Deus Ex Randomizer, and the other is for The 7th Guest fan club
Note that when you join a Space, you are not automatically joining all the rooms inside it.
this is going to be a bit painful for people who are used to Discord
you can search public rooms but not public Spaces? how do you find Spaces? they should’ve copied the good parts about Discord lol (EDIT: I found the way to search public Spaces, I guess it can’t search across instances though which is a shame, it probably wouldn’t require much disk space to index the name and description of every Matrix Space)
I don’t even see rooms linking back to their Space?
tchncs.de has a lot of public spaces, I created my account using my Google but it just assumed my username :(
tell that to Google lol, my Github pages are way higher than my website
Well it doesn’t really focus on your README either because all the files and folders are above it
Github really tries to hide the Releases page lol it’s so annoying as a dev, it’s even worse on mobile
I usually end up just directly linking to /releases/latest
you’ve already got an account, click !autism@lemmy.world and then the Subscribe button
are you using a mobile app or just the lemmy.world website?
I dont know what Instance I am
you are on lemmy.world
but am being asked for a instance
it sounds like you were trying to Subscribe without being logged in
so I’m guessing you have your login in an app instead of the website and then you opened the community in your web browser instead of in the app which already had your login
the link I provided should work in your app or wherever you’re commenting from
Lance’s quote at the end of the article is so good lol, really cool that Mastodon has lived longer than Google+ already!
2026 or 2025? I thought it was 2025
looks kinda like a Silverstone SG13 with a monitor on it, or maybe a Lian Li A3-mATX
Does it make sense to host your own instance of lemmy for one user?
Not really lol, but if you think it will be fun then go for it
I missed it live and I was curious, here’s the trailer
Nah posting in advance is good, just making people aware
starts in 12 hours
As a kid I liked GTA2, modded the game to make the taxi super fast and strong lol
I messed around a lot in GTA3 with cheats, causing chaos in the tank
Vice City I actually played for real and beat it, my favorite in the series, but I stopped after that. I probably would’ve enjoyed San Andreas because it’s similar. GTA4 and 5 just seemed like a different tone and style that I was never very interested in. Also they took too long to bring to PC lol.
- “sort”: that’s the word for the options of “new”, “scaled”, “active” etc, right?
Yep https://join-lemmy.org/docs/users/03-votes-and-ranking.html
- @Die4Ever pointed out there’s a “Show Read Posts” option in the settings. I’ve unticked that and will see how it goes.
I honestly don’t use this feature myself lol but I hope it helps you!
In your settings on the website there’s a checkbox for “Show read posts”, uncheck that. Some apps have the same feature or similar. Some apps also have an option to mark as read when you scroll past a post without opening it.
You don’t need to delete, you can have multiple accounts
