There different reasons for wanting privacy or advocating for for personal data privacy and implimenting strategies to support that.

If ever you are in trouble with the state or make the wrong person on the internet angry, the more you’ve publically shared the easier it will be for them to find something to use against you. So… you can try not to get on anybody’s bad side to limit that possibility or you can do your best to compartmentalize your online activities.

It should be possible to ask for help or show vuneralbility online without telling anybody (or thing) absolutely everything about you every time.

What if there are no exterior outlets? You going to leave a window open with an extension cord fed through it? Maybe fine if you live somewhere without neighbors… probably a good way to get robbed otherwise.

Well… the hybrid car thing makes sense. How many places are built to have charging stations everywhere you’d park your hybrid car?

If you mange to afford buying/leasing/renting a hybrid car, that doesn’t mean you can afford to build out a charging station at your own home. Hell, you may not even be allowed to modify your existing property even if you could afford it.

So you wind up driving an electric car that is kept charged by a lawnmower engine burning gas instead of driving an electric car, charged from the power grid, with an emergency gas powered generator to increase your range or compensate for when the batteries’ capacity degrades.

Specifically, the executives and shareholders want their Publicly Traded Shares of company stock to be increasing in value. Advertisers are good for getting long term holders of the stock to keep holding and buying, but everybody else is looking to quietly pump up the numbers and sell what they can without upsetting the apple-cart.

I’d bet a shiny metal dollar that after the IPO starts, the porn subs will slowly start being winnowed down. Give it a few years and if any exist they will be private.

Porn is less of a legal liability than copyright claims is my guess.

Also… like… if somebody is dumping money into Reddit as a user of Reddit, which is more likely to make them stop: killing the piracy forums or the porn forums?
