Paying someone to manage your investments for you does not mean you’re not an “active” investor. An example of active vs passive investments would be that passive investments usually involve index funds… that is, funds that include virtually “all” stocks and closely resemble the overall makeup and performance of the market as a whole.

As opposed to “active” investments which, as just one example, could include using someone to manage your investments if they are picking individual stocks based on whatever their criteria are for what they think is a “good” investment.

They’re saying he could have started his PhD at 21, not finished it at 21. That age checks out if he was born in 1988.

I’m not jumping ship yet and am waiting to see what, if anything, happens from here. Maybe it comes out that the same person has access to that official Mastadon account and echoed their opinion there… and maybe it comes out that his comments/actions are disavowed by the rest of the organization.

I’ll wait and see. But it’s not a great start.

I largely agree with what you’re saying, except the official Proton Mastadon account doubled down on that personal opinion. That seems pretty clear that it’s endorsed not just by that one individual on the board.

+1 for AdGuard

I just got a new all AMD laptop to replace my Nvidia laptop for this same reason.

I haven’t used Pi-Hole in a long time to know that, but I don’t seem to have any issue with them using AdGuard Home.

It’s not something the average person can or will do, but if you’re so inclined you can run Pi-Hole or AdGuard Home and have all your iOS devices go through it.

I even set up a VPN for when I’m away from home that I can connect to and get routed through my home internet connection which gives me ad blocking on the go.

Or if you want a simpler answer, look into using the AdGuard app on your iOS device.

There shouldn’t be any reason you can’t change the DNS setting on your devices though, right? You’re not required to use your router for DNS.

I have a Synology NAS that holds all my important data. Then it does nightly backups to Synology C2.

Hard to say which is used more by my wife and I between:
