No they won’t. Many many parts are shared with accords, there are so many parts in junkyards it’s insane. The engines are still being made too.

A 1999 Honda crv can be made to run forever
Use the water pressure to power a turbine generator, then use the electricity from that generator to run a window AC unit
Poison ivy would argue we don’t have time for systemic change. She’s doing what is in her power to do. She’d probably say that if your potted fern is droopy, it needs to be in the sun. But if you can’t afford a place with sun, maybe you need to do what you can now, and get a grow light.
E-bikes are electric motorcycles, there’s no difference without some top speed enforcement mechanism.
You can’t get car insurance on a bike but you can still ride it in the street???
Of course e-bikes etc shouldn’t be on sidewalks or bike paths, but it should be fine for them to be in the street. That’s absurd.
Absolutely true, it’s why there aren’t any more fun pop up headlights, or hood ornaments.
Safety standards caused passenger cars to get larger more than anything else (trucks got bigger because of weird fuel economy regulations).
Roll back safety standards and we can have small cars again. It’s probably worth the amount of excess deaths it will create, but someone should do a study.
I don’t have kids but I’d kind of like to have adult kids when I’m old. So maybe I can adopt a college age person when I’m like 50 or something
The day I learned that Linus shares my disdain for all things OOP was such a good day for me.
Well it’s not that it means nothing to me, but my job in the US pays about $30k more than it would in Germany (I can’t speak to other countries). Lots of Germans come to the US to work in my field for that reason (well they used to before all the layoffs). Also my health insurance is free.
That said, I absolutely still want public healthcare. Not just for the people in my country who desperately need it, but for myself too. Because while my healthcare is “free”, it isn’t really; my salary could be higher otherwise. And I lose coverage if I stop working (actually not really we have programs for that, but still kind of).
E-bikes can ride on motorcycle trails, because they are fucking motorcycles.
Keep them off of regular bike trails please
I’m advocating for publicly owned automatic taxis
It’s also (western) safety standards. Even small cars are larger; compare an 80s Corolla to a 90s to a 2010s. Compare bmw 3-series across the same time span. To make cars safer for occupants, you need more metal and more space. So they got larger.
Public transit would be great if you didn’t have to ride with other people. That’s my real problem with it in America at least; there are always loud and gross people aboard. My town has phenomenal bud infrastructure, but people drive because it’s faster, and because you don’t have to be around undesirable people.
Maybe public transportation where each person or group could ride in their own automated pod, which would be publicly owned. That way you could still go skiing/hiking/etc, since mass transportation to those places is very difficult due to low volume.
No I want it to run locally
I want a personal assistant that actually works. Like Siri or Alexa, but it can actually do secretarial tasks.
“Find and schedule a roofing company to come fix the roof”
“See if you can get me dinner reservations for a nice Italian restaurant tomorrow night at 630”
“Write an email to bob apologizing for running over his dog”
“Find an image on the internet of a person being mauled by a bear, edit the picture so that it’s James being mauled, and send picture to him”
“Find a new show for me to watch and torrent the first episode, re-dub it in Japanese with Spanish subtitles”
I know this is one of those “grandpa doesn’t like it when they make up new words” scenarios, but you can just say “most bourgeois”.
