  • I get the appeal of Bambu printers, I’ve been tempted myself to get one… but the thing that keeps me away is that they are closed source and I don’t want a world with closed source 3D printers because when the company goes evil - and they all eventually do - I don’t want to be held hostage. I’ve fallen in that trap before and don’t want to again.

Don’t give them backlash, instead stop using their printers. Release your models under a license that requires the printer that prints it to be open source. Let friends and colleagues know the dangers of supporting such a company.

  • Same. I bought the lifetime pass on sale many years ago, my setup is still working fine without me having to have touched it for at least the past 3 years outside of applying an update from time to time. I don’t stream their free shows or movies and have those setup so that they don’t even show up as an option on my tv.

Do I wish it was still the same company it was a decade ago? Of course… but so far they haven’t impacted my experience to the point that I feel the need to replace it with something else. The second that happens I will be spinning up Jellyfin.

  • I bought my bike secondhand and it had this huge, overstuffed saddle with large springs on the back. It was comfortable, but the springs squeaked, so I went and bought a new saddle. I don’t know what I’m doing, so I found one that’s highly rated and got it. It’s skinny and hard, but I put it on and went for a quick ride (less than 5 miles). A few days later I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible pain in my butt. I went to the bathroom and I had a MASSIVE hemorrhoid. Walking was painful, sitting was impossible. After a couple of days of trying to treat it out ended up popping and I had to use my wife’s pads for over a week before it healed.

I’ve not ridden my bike since. Would this type of saddle be better for my tender hole, or should I just consider myself done with riding bikes?

  • Try being more direct, you can still write out your whole email with the full description, but put in a section somewhere that’s easy to see that’s labeled as “QUESTIONS” and then enumerate the questions you want answered. I often will have the whole section bold and further highlight important words in red. This makes it easier for people to answer inline on the reply and helps ensure questions weren’t missed.

The truth is, most people don’t like the ‘email’ part of the job and may only check it once or twice a day and I’d most likely just skimming through several messages and not fully devoting much time to each message. By making it easier for them to reply you end up with a better result.

You can also use this when you expect someone to take action from your email. Let them know precisely what you want them to do, and make it very easy to find ‘The Ask’.

EDIT: Or, you can just downvote any comments that actually offer suggestions and stay of the opinion that everyone else is wrong and only you are correct.
