Sorry you don’t like their tone but they’re right.

Cool to see that JellyKey is still going strong!
Having one of their pieces was always a “woah, wouldn’t THAT be cool” type of aspirational things for me. Very skilled craftspeople - have lots of respect for their work.
except the alchemists actually strived to move towards more reliable and accurate science
Forgive if I’m misunderstanding, but wouldn’t that be chemists striving toward reliable and accurate science? Sovcits being alchemists or petty magi is a pretty great comparison, honestly.
The planet =/= nature
Inefficient. Utilise your time to provide maximum benefit for the biosphere before you return to it. Nature is not a solo juggernaut - it needs us to help to our part.
What a cool country!
Exactly. It’s insane we need to remember details like this but here we are.
Yeah, God, that’s a difficult position to be put in.
Sorry man - you shouldn’t have to make choices like that… if you do have to take it, I’d try to ease my concious by redirecting their money. Like, I did that when I had to work for a for-profit contract company staffing Australias social services. KPIs for welfare phone lines staffed by undertrained whoevers. They’d penalise us for taking the time to help vulnerable people. Disgusting company - left the second I could afford to. I put something aside for local mutual aids and environmental groups.
God man - I’m sorry, that just sucks.
Good luck. Hope you can avoid Raytheon.
How did you start?? I’ve wanted to try it out for a while now but have no idea where to begin
Which, to be fair to them - everything is, you know? Nothing is really absent of politics because nothing is really absent of us.
That’d be right, lol - thanks for the help parsing the context, I really did just assume it was earnest
Really? I never knew - are people starting to warm up on collecting Natgeos or has this been a thing around your neck of the woods/world for a while?
I’ve wanted to start with RSS for a while now - how did you get started, practically speaking? Any resources that helped you set yourself up comfortably/learn the ins-and-outs?
That sounds like something a bot would say…
One anecdotal chime in: I dropped the Zuck for a year and gradually realised that my city runs all its cultural events through Facebook - unless you know or someone invites you, that was pretty much it.
I think I did miss out on meeting new people or seeing old friends by chance, simply because I didn’t know to turn up somewhere for a gig or whatever - and the old addage has some truth imo; often you just need to be in the right place at the right time for things to happen.
Yeah, damn - that cage match would have been one hell of a pay-per-view.
What a weird corporate hellscape we inhabit, lol.
Meta owns it now, I guess - I always figured that the critical bulk of their user base came from before the acquisition.
I initially learnt about Signal when Meta (then Facebook) bought them out and a bunch of Australian reporters immediately switched their anonymous tipoff lines from Whatsapp to Signal.
Read the fourth, most recent IPCC report - it’s essentially a metastudy synthesising a lot of hard science.
The picture is grim.
