But still above par, considering the competition…
Aqarius@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What techniques do bad faith users use online to overwhelm other users in online discussion and arguments?3·1 month agoI often get the feeling those people see everyone who voices dissent as one big amorphous blob. It’s as if every conversation on a topic is part of one long argument, and you get assigned every claim that anyone ever made. Almost like they watched that “moops” alt-right playbook video and drew the exact wrong conclusion.

Aqarius@lemmy.worldto Curated Tumblr@sh.itjust.works•Certain hobbies set off warning bellsEnglish2·4 months agoSee, I always thought this comparison falls flat, because No Russian and Spec Ops both give you the same amount of choice - either you complete the mission or not - and both give you no alternative way to proceed and no way to prevent it other than close the game. That Spec Ops makes you push buttons for the bad thing to happen rather than allow you to chicken out and be a passive rather than active participant is a point in it’s favour.
Frankly, it’skind of the opposite: the slavery part of the argument is obvious, simply because IIRC the model of chattel slavery the US south operated on was only viable through the constant flow of new people to feed into the meatgrinder. The “better off” part is kinda dubious.
That wouldn’t work because the bilionaires don’t have money, they have assets, AKA capital.

It’s by design very verbose and “English”-like, like instead of x=y*z it would go “MULTIPLY y BY z GIVING x”, the idea was that it would read almost like natural language, so that non-tech staff could understand it.
People thought COBOL would let managers write code.
Yeah, from the conversations I’ve had, they’re kind of the best of a bad bunch, all things considered.
