I see the option for all, subscribed and local but I can’t seem to figure out how to find a list for a different instance

That will give you a list of communities. Filtering by Local lists all the communities on that instance. From the way you suggest (which is also what i’ve been doing) you can only see your own local communities while signed in.
Using a browser (not a phone app) go to the instance’s main page and look for the Communities button. That will give you a list of communities. Filtering by Local lists all the communities on that instance.

Right what I meant was, what if I wanna go see the list of communities on say sh.itjust.works from my lemmy.dbzer0.com account.
