This is a write up for those needing to get video off cheapo ICSee / XMEye video cameras. The camera doesn't use a standard partition or files and as such appears as RAW to Windows and unrecognized to Linux. Running DiskGenius did not detect any files. The mobile software does not make this easy and some of the desktop software defaults to Chinese Simplified.

  1. Ensure the camera is online and connected to the network
  2. Download and install the XMEye VMS Software (Windows Mega Link)
  3. Access Home -> Device Manager
  4. If you're using the Default Camera settings just use IPV4 scan, otherwise use Manual Add. ICSee cameras use XM Protocol.
  5. Once added, access Home -> System Config
  6. Set Playback Download Format from h265x to AVI
  7. Set Download Path to somewhere with enough storage for the entire SD card
  8. Click Apply
  9. Relaunch VMS
  10. Access Playback
  11. Checkmark the device under Default Group
  12. Select the Recording Types you want to download in the bottom right. I recommend All
  13. Select the timeframe. A 128GB SD card should have about 2 weeks.
  14. Select Search
  15. Change Records Per Page to 100
  16. Select the files to download (or Select All). NOTE: SELECTING ALL ONLY SELECTS ALL ON THE PAGE AND SELECTION IS LOST BETWEEN PAGES. YOU WILL HAVE TO SELECT ALL AND DOWNLOAD EACH PAGE.
  17. Each clip should take about 30 seconds to download assuming an uncongested LAN Connection. 128GB of clips should take about 33 hours.

If I figure out how to export files from the SD card itself I'll update this post. If you have a .h265x and need to convert it, use Home -> Backup and there's a converter

This post is dedicated to my baby Indian Ringneck blueberry who was let out accidentally by my daughter sometime within the last couple days. I will never forget you.
