I will let go of all my normal home maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, taking out the trash, changing bed sheets, etc., until I have a deadline for work approaching. All of a sudden, I have all the energy in the world to focus on said tasks while I avoid the looming deadline that I must absolutely accomplish if I don’t want to get fired. Why can’t I just work on things without the pressure? 😩
This is why WFH is great for me. I use work tasks to avoid housework and housework to avoid actual work and this tension somehow makes everything work
I love working from home! Lots of people were upset with COVID restrictions, but I was loving them. Work socialization is too distracting, but once I started WFH, my productivity increased significantly. I haven’t been back to a work office since. Never again will I have to hear about co-worker’s personal problems out of nowhere when I’m in the middle of a task.
It’s also tough to reconcile that I may thrive in high pressure situations, but they’re still exhausting and I don’t like them, and definitely not being dependent on them to do anything. Medication helped the minute to minute, but the week to week is still a total blur.
This past week I deep cleaned my vacuum instead of studying for an exam
Feel you…
I had/have two modes:
Write a 5 page essay in > 2 weeks
or
Have it due in 5 days and achieving the flow when writing.Getting started was so difficult for me and I always needed a bit of inspiration on how start it.
That’s where I’m at! I’ve been on Strattera for the past month, and it’s been impressive how well it helps me focus. I can get stuck on a topic to the detriment of my bodily needs, such as peeing or eating. However, I still find it very hard to start. It’s almost impossible without some sort of urgent stressor. However, once I do start, I’m going to focus on it like a super human.
And nothing helps me get going on a work task like having urgent house stuff that needs doing.
The key to getting something done is to find something else you don’t want to do more.
