Then you look back at your notes a couple years later and you’re like “I still don’t understand wtf I did it that way”.
Lol. My main PC is Nobora (Fedora fork). My kids laptop is tumbleweed and I’m setting up an HTPC with bazzite.
So…two Fedora, 1 OpenSUSE.
Guess I know where I place on this graph.
JasonDJ@lemmy.zipto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•I got to avoid memory management for quite some time9·20 days agoCongratulations! Now you can get a job at Fortinet.
(Fortinet is a network security vendor…think firewalls, HLBs, etc. They get an ungodly amount of memory leak bugs, or at least far more than you would expect from an enterprise firewall)
I know! It seemed totally plausible! There is a very odd discrepancy between that and the general population.
I’m glad that Linus clarified that it was High Resolution Timers. I was honestly thinking they were arguing about Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Me, every time I try to tidy up Notepad++ tabs and it wants me to save all my ephemeral notes,

You don’t add the “online banking” or “web client” interface in [FORTRAN]
Don’t kink shame.

His mom was a bloodhound, his dad was a deadbeat who hit it and quit it.
He’s shorthaired, tan, like 75lbs…and he loves to bask.
In the summer he’s got two modes, bask or zoomies. That’s it.
I do wish I could have my tabs ordered by how recently I accessed them, instead of just opening them in the “next” tab, without an add-on.
I’m the inattentive type. My youngest kid is the hyper type.
We clash soooo much. His body does what my mind does.
JasonDJ@lemmy.zipto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Yes, I wrote a very expensive bug. In my defense I was only seven years old at the time11·3 months agoThe computers I remember in my libraries back in the early 90s didn’t use internet, but a private dial-in network with a text/menu-driven interface sort of like a BBS.
Eventually, when they moved to the internet, there was a bit when it was reachable over telnet…I don’t know if that was intended or not but it made it very easy for me to search the catalog from home. It was never advertised, I just happened to notice the address on the terminals at the library and figured I’d give it a shot.

Nowadays it’s kitchen-faucet-lighting.
Oof this hit me hard.
My youngest has ADHD, as do I. I wasn’t diagnosed until last year though.
Him being hyper stresses me the fuck out. But I was more of a daydreamer/wanderer type. What his body does is what my mind was doing when I was his age.

Meanwhile my wife yelling at me to power wash the deck and my only retort is “uhh water ban”.
Oh is that the red hat they are blaming?
Now I do.
I mean, I’ve always felt that way, but never able to put it into words.
Alright guys I’m gonna tell you…I don’t use butter on my grilled cheese.
Nah. I use mayonnaise. A very thin coating, it doesn’t take much – and ultimately it’s easier for butter to be many more calories and taste inferior
