Our children are a reflection of us. If we build a society that is hostile to them, they’ll grow up thinking they can’t do anything or go anywhere on their own.
Just the other day I saw well over a hundred kids walking home from the local middle school. I was both surprised and happy to see it.
Mine takes the bus but it’s because I’m sending her to a further away school to learn French. I have seen the drop-off car line a couple times though and it looks like pure torture. I’d rather do the hour-long walk to her school if she missed the bus than ever drive her there.
It changed so quickly in the last twenty years somehow. What went wrong?
Does the 87% include school buses or were people who took the school bus a bigger outlier than I thought?
